Reflection of the week
Kaunas, Lithuania
Along the Nemunas River, in Kaunas, the broad tree-lined avenues and historic buildings tell the story of generations who built the city long before they could see its future development; many of the works admired today were born from the patience of people who labored with something in mind that would mature over time.
In modern life as well, we are often attracted to immediate results, we would like to quickly see the effects of our efforts, measure every improvement and receive constant reassurance; when this does not happen, discouragement easily arises, and yet the most important transformations often follow different rhythms.
Educating a person, building a community, developing an inner quality or carrying out a meaningful project requires time; fruits ripen slowly and are sometimes harvested by others.
The value of an action does not depend solely on the speed with which it produces results; many of the best things we leave in the world grow precisely because we have been able to sow without expecting to reap immediately.
